I recently posted a survey of questions to ask yourself about a character (locked in a private entry). This time I chose Jonas, but never finished it. Some of the questions are random but are things you could easily answer about yourself (such as past transgressions). I posted it about a week ago, and I had it in my head that the first time I did this survey for Nate was... not that long ago.

But then I looked at the time stamp. It's been TWO YEARS. I posted Nate's version in November of 2015.

I've been working on this story for ages. It's been in my head in various forms since my teen years, but feel like it's recently taken root a bit better. I just didn't realize that I've been just letting these people bounce around my head for two years, in their current form at least.

This journal, in general, has been around forever (four years now) but has definitely been underutilized. I'm hoping to change that.

At the very least, now there are some actual words associated with Nate and Jonas' story. I told myself I would write one paragraph the other night, and ended up writing about 1000 words or more.

So I'm back to writing about old characters, while listening to music that I listened to as a teenager. The nostalgia is unreal.

The other day as I was waiting between jobs, I decided to write some six word stories. I was inspired by the community [community profile] sixwordstories even though I don't really understand the tags and it seems like most of them are based in a universe many are already familiar with. But I liked the idea because, without knowing anything before reading the six words, you can still get decent imagery from it. Some of the ones from Thursday:

---------

Something else had been on Mars.

According to the report, he disintegrated.

"The elves are rather hostile today."

His soul flew up to Valhalla.

The building was no longer there.

Only the ape found the wormhole.

---------

I might try to make this a daily thing, since I have trouble finding time to do any substantial writing anymore. I also want to up the word count slowly, like maybe 25 to 50 to 100 and beyond. Maybe do one longer story each week along with the tiny daily ones.
